Campaign 2:
Action Plan
The new Haitian refugees: Assist the
Haitian refugees who have fled, are fleeing, who do not have proper
papers, housing, resources, etc.; urging the U.S. to not automatically
repatriate, indefinitely detain or otherwise send back those fleeing
the February 29, 2004 Coup D'etat's persecutions but provide Haitian
Asylum seekers with at least temporary asylum. Connect these new arriving
refugees with the appropriate relief agencies and immigration lawyers.
In fact, we have a great need for experienced immigration lawyers who
are willing to take on the many requests we are now getting for assistance.
Libete ou lanmo. Demokrasi ou lanmo. -Liberty or death. Democracy or
death, these are not slogans of a prideful but wounded people, but the
only choice.
President Aristide once said that "it isnít poverty that makes Haitians
into refugees. It is fear, repression and brutality. Once again this
2nd Coup D'etat against President Aristide is sending Haitians onto
the sea, only to be turned back by the United States, which says they
are fleeing hunger, not homicide. |
