An
Evening with Bolivarian Venezuela:
Haiti brings a message of solidarity to
Bolivarian Venezuela
"..Honor and respect. Good evening everyone. I am here to
speak on behalf of a suffering people in Haiti. I am here also
to stand with the people of Bolivarian Venezuela against the imperialist,
against what is going to happen, if the world allows what happened
to Haiti to happen to Venezuela.
What we are facing today in Haiti is complete absolute oppression.
There has been since February 29, 2004 over 10,000 Haitians killed,
1,000 Haitian political prisoners. And those in Fanmi Lavalas
who are not in prison or exiled, are now dead.
This, is the “democracy” that the Bush Administration
is bringing to Haiti and the “democracy” it will bring
to Venezuela.
That is why, we Haitians look at what Venezuela did in 2002 in
terms of foiling the coup d’etat against your president,
President Chavez and you are our beacon of hope in this darkest
of nights. We thank you. We look to you.
There was once a time in history when it was the Haitian warriors
who gave Simon Bolivar printing press, money and soldiers. And
today we look to you as our soldiers as you fight the fight and
win the fight that we are going to also win.
We share many, many things in common with Venezuela.
We are facing the same death squads, the same felons and murders
and an elite class that wants to keep us in economic exclusion
and non-participation.
So, your fight against privatization and poverty is the fight
that we have been fighting for 200 years.
Haiti has never given up. The re-colonization of Haiti today will
not work, just like it did not work in 1915, just like it did
not work in 1994, just like it will not work now.
We will not be locked into endless international debt, into a
colonial status of being producers and never consumers of our
own harvest, never having a stake in our own country’s resources.
And that is what is the future if Mr. Bush has his way. We stand
with you. All of the people here who have come from Venezuela
today, we want you to know, that the grassroots for democracy
in Haiti sends this message. They say to you “fight on!”
Like Dessalines said to us and like someone just quoted from Simon
Bolivar:
There is no alternative to slavery, except freedom. Thank you."

Ayisyen: You Are Not Alone!
"When you make
a choice, you mobilize vast human energies and resources which
otherwise go untapped...........If you limit your choices only
to what seems possible or reasonable, you disconnect yourself
from what you truly want and all that is left is a compromise."
